TreeTop Adventure Parks uses an innovative and very eco-friendly construction technique and uses specific technology details hereafter.
On the courses, participants attach themselves at all times to a safety line called the span line. To do so, they use the 2 carabineers fastened to their harness. They can then travel safely on challenges from tree to tree. A platform is built around each tree at a height depending on the level of the course they are on. To transfer from one challenge to the next, they simply use one of their carabineers at a time, as learnt during the training.
The equipment is built around the trees without drilling through. Drilling through a tree breaks through the cambium which is the life support of the tree. It may weaken the tree and make it more prone to insects and any bacterial pathogens attacks.
Logs are clamped around the tree. Decking is put up on the logs. In the park, we limit the load to 2 people (even though they are stable enough for up to 340 kg). The decking is designed to allow for the passage of the wildlife.
We protect the trunk of the tree from the pressure of the wires used for the span line by using half logs that spreads the load across a much larger area. This avoids the wire going into the trunk. The logs used blend into the natural environment. As the tree grows, the logs and cables are released slowly to allow the tree to grow without restriction. The type of timber used is not treated by any harmful chemicals so as not to harm the trees or pose any health risks for participants or staff. It is a non invasive technique and makes the equipment fully removable.
